Events like Coffee with a Deputy and National Night Out create informal, approachable settings where residents can connect with law enforcement, ask questions, and build stronger neighborhood relationships. Public safety initiatives such as Water Safety, Crime Prevention, and the Drug Take Back Program provide valuable education and resources that help protect families, reduce risks, and promote healthier communities. Business Outreach efforts further support local organizations by fostering communication, addressing concerns, and encouraging collaboration between law enforcement and the business community. Together, these programs show an ongoing commitment to community engagement, safety, and service beyond traditional law enforcement.

DEA National Drug Take Back Day

Along with Valley Health, Warren County, VA Sheriff’s Office participates in the DEA National Drug Take Back Day. Drug Take Back Day is usually held in the spring and autumn each year for those municipalities who wish to participate in providing a safe, convenient and anonymous means of disposing of prescription drugs. Citizens who wish to get rid of their unused, expired or unwanted medications are encouraged to drop them off as they drive into the collection site where agency representatives will receive them.


Child Safety Seat Program

When a parent is pulled over and can’t afford a proper car seat, it becomes more than a traffic stop - it becomes a safety issue.


Through the foundation, deputies can do more than issue a warning.


They can provide real solutions that keep children safe and families supported.

Smart 911

Operation Telephone program is a Free service to provide members of our community with peace of mind. 

Managed through the 911 Center if they don't hear from you, they will reach out to you and if needed, a deputy will come to your residence to check on you.


Operation Telephone Call participants are asked to call the 911 center each day. If the office is not contacted by 3 pm, they call the participant's home. If they are unable to make contact by phone, a deputy is dispatched to the residence to check on the individual. The service can be suspended or discontinued at any time.


Crime Prevention

Crime Prevention - The Warren County, VA Sheriff’s office is committed to building and nurturing a strong relationship with the community members of Warren County, VA. They do this by facilitating programs aimed at fostering strong community ties. Engaging in meaningful dialogue and collaboration with community members and business leaders. Organizing and participating in community-centric events and councils. Members of the Community Policing Unit conduct security and safety surveys, for homes, churches and businesses.


Water Safety

Water Safety Awareness is an annual water safety training session for the community safety. It’s not just a learning experience, but also a fun canoe trip on the Shenandoah River.  Attendees can be as young as 10 years old and up.


National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign on the first Tuesday of August that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Front Royal Police and the Warren County, VA Sheriff’s Office hold their event in the downtown area of Front Royal.


Coffee with a Deputy

An event that occurs several times a year with the assistance of local coffee shops and restaurants throughout the County. It offers the community members to meet and talk about current events and ask about matters that they are concerned about while getting to know the Sheriff Deputies.



Rave Alert

Rave Alert is a mass notification system used by Warren County, VA Public Safety Agencies (Warren County, VA Sheriff’s Office, Warren County, VA Fire and Rescue, and Front Royal Police Department) to quickly and effectively communicate with our citizens during emergencies or important events. It provides timely alerts via text message, email, voice calls, and other communication channels to keep the public informed and safe.


Rave Alert helps bridge the gap between local agencies and the community by delivering real-time, actionable information that enhances public safety and preparedness.



Citizens Academy

The Citizens Academy provides citizens with an inside look at local law enforcement operations and challenges. 


What is the Citizens Academy purpose? The purpose of the Citizen Academy is to develop positive relations between the Sheriff deputies and community through education. The goal is to create a core of responsible, well-informed citizens who have the potential to influence public opinion and dispel untruths about law enforcement practices and services. 


What will be my experience attending the Citizens Academy? Participants in each session commit to meet for three hours one evening per week, for ten weeks, to learn about various aspects of the Sheriff operations. Most of the instructors will be deputies and personnel from within the Sheriff Office, who speak on their area of expertise.
